The Colonial model was used by the British Empire during their conquest of Asia and Africa. Nowadays, also known as the Optimo. This is a quality Grade 16 or Fino hat which doubles the weave count of a standard Cuenca hat.
This hat model was probably the first Panama Hat to be used. Still today, this model is very popular around the world and specially within the UK.
The Colonial originated after rolling up a natural - un-blocked - hat for a few times and as a consequence, a line mark was left through out the center of the crown. Nowadays, this style is blocked in this way. Straw color is natural as Montecristi hats are never bleached or tinted.
Data sheet
If you are not sure of your exact hat size you can measure the circumference around your head by using a tape measure or if you do not have one you can use a string and then measure it against a ruler.
The measurement level should be where a hat would normally rest, that is above the ears and above the eyebrows ridges. While measuring keep the tape firm but not tight.
Check the size chart given below. For in-between measurements use the next size up.
